QUEENSLAND TEAM DEFEATED. By Telegraph—Press Aesociation-CoDyriEht (Rec. July 26, 5.6-p.m.) Brisbane, July 26. The weather was fine but dull for the Rugby football match, New Zealand v. Queensland. There were about 5000 present to witness the game. Queens-, land kicked off against a light breeze, and aftei the game was in progress for a while Now Zealand assumed the com-, mand, and had Queensland in difficulties. E. .Roberts secured from the scrumb, and the ball passed to M'Kenzie, . to Ryan, to R. Roberts, to Lynch, and back to R. Roberts, who scored in the corner. Graham failed to convert. A' period of fast, exciting play followed, •the Queenslandors made desperate efforts to score, but the defence was solid. A brilliant passing rush by thelsew Zealand backs ended in Lynoh scoring in the corner. Graham took the kick, , which resulted in a goal. Tho Now Zealanders kept up the pressure, but .' were met with a solid front. Cockroft kicked a goal from the field from, tho Queensland twenty-five. After, a desperate struggle, Williams scored for Queensland just before half-time. Flynn converted. . • " ; • The scores at half-time were: New Zealand, 12; Queensland, 5. Resuming, the All Blacks attacked strongly, but failed to pierce the defence, Queensland for a while showed to great advantage, the forwards played with great dash, but the New Zealand • defence was very solid. Larkin, Secretary of the Rugby League, in an interview, declared that the League's alleged offer to members of the Now Zealand Rugby Union team was all pure fiction. The League's executive never considered tho matter iii any shape or form. What happened was that some New Zealanders saw him and discussed playing with League clubs, ''but how the interviews could be construed into an offer of £3000 is more than anyone can imagine, no matter how elastic one's capacity for thinsing things. Then as'to the statement that the Leaguo is short of players, I offer to produce thirteen who will take on a visiting New Zealand fifteen, tho proceeds to Ije devoted to charity."
