LACROSSE
. . »- _ This match between Columbia and Capitol was played on the Basin Reserve, and, much to the surprise of the followers of lacrosse, resulted in a decisive~ victory for Columbia by 6 goals to 2. Without doubt the better team won, Capitol being outplayed in every phase of tho game. The score at halftime was in favour, of Columbia, and O'Leary on defence, assisted by Baker and Bishop, had no difficulty in subduing the Capitol attack. -Thomas played well in goal. Ryan played the best attack game for Columbia, showing unbounded energy throughout the game. Leydbn and Fama scored four goals be-, tween thom. For Capitol Burge and Norris played a' good, defence game, but the attacks did not seem- to combine, as is their usual wont, J, Renkin and Andrews being the pick of the bunch. Mr. M'Govern was the referee, and the game was very pleasant to control. '• ■ ~ KELBURN V. WELLINGTON. Owing to the football people requiring the greater portion of the Basui Reserve, the ILelburn-Wellington match was played at Duppa Street, the' ground being in splendid condition. ■ Kelburn were the victors, the final score, being 7. goals to 3. -For the winners tho play-, crs who deserve ( praise are.Wyatt and Wilson, both young players, and Milne no doubt contributed to their individual excellence by the encouragement and assistance given them. Hidaleston and Jones both played their usual good game, but tho Kelburn defence was not particularly good, arguing the points of the game representing one of their failings. Proud was however very safe, but had to look after two attacks. . - For Wellington, Canty plaj*ed a fine game and was weil backed up by Ryder and N. Lee, on attack. _ Fuller > and Brown played an'energetic game, but are unable to shoot. The same remark applies to E. Lee, who can shoot with practice. Bowcn, Woods, and-Firth were the most consistent. Had it not \been for Hastie iri.goal, who was in his best form, the score would: have been much heavier.
