John Dreaver, a married man with' six ohildren, who was tlio victim of an accident at the Kotow railway station y|ird last night, whilst shunting, ana Whose leg was amputated in consequence, died early this morning SAILOR DROWNED. , Auckland, July 24. A' Russian named John West, ! aged 60 years, fell from the- schooner Greyhound, off Kawaii. Island, and was drowned. . The mate of the vessel, Davies, jumped over, but;before he could get to West the latter sank A CLIFF FATALITY. (By Telegraptt.-Brooia! OorresDondent.) , ' .. \ Taihape, July 24. ' A man named Duncan M'Bride, who was employed at l-oad-construction a few miles from Ruatiti, was brotight to the Taihape Hospital on Wednesday last suffering from a broken leg aM internal injuries, sustained by falling over a cliff. His:injuries : were of sucli a.serious nature as to preclude any hop'e of his recovery,' and ho'died at tho Hospital, on Thursday afternoon. ■ ■'■'■■' Tlie meagre details' available in re-' gard to the accident are to the effect that M'Bride was standing ou the edge of the .cliff when some of the ground gave way, causing him to fall a distance of 60 feet into the river below. One' of his mates went into the river after him, and brought, him to the bank,-but owing to the nature of the country some hours: elapsed'before he could bo conveyed to a place where medical assistonco was available. . ■
