RIOTOUS STRIKERS
FIRE ON THE TROOPS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oouyttelit St. Petersburg, July 23. The strikers at Viborg cut down telegraph poles and tore up tho pavements. Overturned vans were used as barricades, and from behind these they fired on and stoned the troops and sang revolutionary songs. In four other districts the rioters stoned tho police. .-.•'•. J In all cases the Cossacks volleyed and charged. . One woman and five workmen wore killed and seventeen wounded. Threo police wero severely and many slightly injured. The.rioters attempted to burn a bridge leading to Viborg and the waterworks.. COLLISIONS WITH THE POLICE. STRIKE COMMITTEE ARRESTED. (Reo. July 2, 0.50 a.m.) . St. Petersburg, July 24. The employees at the Government, Obukhoff gun factory are joining the' strike; many are being terrorised into joining. , Collision with tho polico took place throughout Wednesday,' and it is estimated'that twenty were killed and a hundred wounded. A thousand strikers assembled at the Imperial porcelain factory, and, stoned the windows. . Eight ; thousand shipbuilders at the Nikolief works struck, and sang revolutionary songs; several were wounded in a collision witk the troops. Tho police have arrested thirty of the Strike Committee, including tho editorial staffs of the two Labour newspapers. ', '
