; (From Our Own Correspondent.) * The periodioal scouring and cleansing of the upper Kofo Koro reservoir will tako place this afternoon, tho work to bo executed by the Petono Borough Council staff. *'-■ . : .. ■;■ -1 The Lower Hutt Friendly Societies held a combined euchre ■ party and dance last evening at the Town Hall Arcade, Lower Hutt. The Lodges ■represented were the Dr,uids, Oddfellows, Foresters, and -Hibernians, and' there was a capital ; attendance. Mr. A. Zambra acted as M.C., and Mr. J. Pilcher supplied the dance music. At St. Augustine's Hall, Petone, last , evening, a "long niglit" was held in connection with the Potone Ladies' Social Committee. About 75 persons attended, and an enjoyable time was spent. Mr. D. Fraser acted' as M.C., and Mrs. Fraser ivas the pianist! The- Petono Football Club' has sot up ■tho following committee to make ar.rangements in, connection with the annual "eocial," to be held in the Petone Drill Hall on August- 19:—Messrs. Valentine, Bolton, Smith, Ready, and Dent (2). .-.-

At the Lower Hutt Catholic Schoolroom last evening a. very., pleasant "social" was held* by the friends and members of the Catholic Choir. There was a good attendance and Mr. J. O'Brien officiated as M.C. .
