THE PATEA SEAT
REFORM PARTY WELL ORGANISED,- : (By Tol«rrapli.—flDeclal OorresDontatJ _ 7 „ r Wanganui,; July' 21. : '■ -.Mr. W. Morrison, selected as tho Liberal. candidate for Patea, is a- farmer at; Maxwelltown, near Waitotara. He is quite a tyro in general politics, and tho fow remarks ho made at last night's meeting at Patea showed that he is far from being at, home when dialing with big questions. 'The meeting,by the way, was described as a "Liberal rally,"", but a- demonstration by tho majority of tho' audienco in favour of Mr. Massoy showed that' the Opposition's prospects are far from rosy. The Reform Party in Patea is organising quietly and very solidly, - arid support* ers are confident that no Liberal attempt to unseat Mr. Pearco has- any prospect of success. , ' 1 In the Waimarino electorate, Mr. Ht M. Speed is. excellent progress, and is creating a very good' impression,. while the fact that lie is a farmer and understands farmers' problems has commended him to very many electors. Mr. E. Pimm's- unfortunate accident lias prevented him from doing any. active work in Wanganui, though he hopes to be able .to'resume nis'campaign in' a month's, time. His supporters, liowovcr, have hot been idle, and it is .probable.' that tho-Reform .Party Waliganui lias never beeii so' Splendidly and thoroughly organised as it is now." Tho prospects of Reform 'carrying this .seat are. therefore very bright-.
