A wirolo-s message has been received from the captain of the Shaw-Savill steamer Waimana, stating that he expected his vessel to arrive at Auckland from London to-nionw afternoon. Four of the New Zealand Shipping Company's passenger steamers have been, remodelled, and brought up to date as far as their passengor accommodation is .concerned. The liners in question are the Ruapehu, Tongaviro, Rimutaka, and Turakina. These four steamers were till recently employed in the London-Wellington mail service, and it is only since, the advent of the Rotoriia, Riiahino,' Hemuera, and such liko liners that.they have been taken off the running .by' the . company. When the Ruapohu and her sister ships were built accommodation was provided for three- classes of pussengors. Within the past fow months, when each of the four steamers named arrived at London, extensive alterations have been made by which accommodation has been provided for two classes of passenger? only—first and third.
