•.. A practico' match -between Newtown' and Central on Saturday resulted in a win for the former by 7 runs to 0. Central batted first, and Lloyd scored the ouly run. In Newtown's'first venture runs were scored by .lansen and Thompson. Central's second innings resulted in Ross, M'Donald, and Waters negotiating tlio diamond. Harrison and tlie Rev. Johnston scored for Newtown in their second innings. Alexander, was the only scorer for Central in their third. In Newtown's third strike Jansen .was the only, scorer. Central's sixth and last ruii was scored by Lloyd in theirfoiirt'h innings.. Jl'Clintock scoredfor Newtown in their fourth and Morris in'the fifth innings'. Murray 0; Perrott 1, v. Wolton, 0; Berry 1, v. Clark 0; Laughton 1, v. Thompson 0. Two fixtures were postponed, viz., Bland v. Booth ' (absent), and Harper v. Armstrong (absent). Tlie game Loney v. Weino requires a second sitting; the latter has the preferablo position. The fixture, Harper v. Thompson, which had been previously adjourned, was completed, and was won by tho former. The leaders in Section A are: Allen (Class I), 3_win no losses; Purchas (Class 1), 3 wins no losses, and Perrott (Class IV), 3 wins no losses; Purchas (Class I), 3 three unbeaten players, viz., Berry, .Class IV (2 wins); Laughton, Class V, (2 wins); and Loney, Class 111 (1 win). The finals will, it is expected, be commenced in a month's time. ■■ . , NGAIO CLUB, The Ngaio Giles's Club's Annual Handicap Tourney was advanced a further stage on Monday, last. Messrs. Topp (8 wins), and E. E. Hicks (6 wins), arc still ..unbeaten. Tho game between these two players is marked incomplete. Topp, who is conceding the odds of .pawn and two moves, emerged from a hard battle a bishop to the good, which advantage he still had at the adjournment.
