PLANS COMPLETE ROYAL VISITS TO VESSEL By Telegraph—Press Association.—Copyrielit (Rec. July 16, 11.15 p.m.) London, July 16. Sir E. Shackleton has arranged with Captain P. A. Worsley, a New Zealander, to navigate the Endurance. He afterwards surveys and explores the Antarctic coasts. I Mr. Mackintosh leads the Ross Sea party, which will be composed of Mr. Ernest Joyce, Mr. A. H. Minnis, and 'Mr. H. Wild. The Endurance leaves London on. July 29 for Cowes, where the King visits the vessel. Queen Alexandra and the Empress Marie have promised to privately visit the Endurance before she leaves London. Captain P. A. Worsley is well known in shipping circles in New Zealand. He was second officer of the Tutanekai under tlie late Captain Fairchild, and was then promoted to tlie position of chief officer of tho Hinemoa. When the Imperial Government presented H.M.S. Sparrow (now the Amokura) to the New Zealand Government as a training vessel, lie went over to Sydney with Captain Post, and assisted to navigate the ship to Wellington. He was in charge of the cx-man-o'-war until sho started oil her new career in New Zealand waters, and Mas then appointed to the command of the auxiliary schooner Countess of Ranfurly, owned by the Government, when she was runinc between Auckland and .the Cook Islands. For some years past Captain Worsley has been connected with some fine steamers trading out of England. SWEDISH EXPEDITION. ' Copenhagen, July 16. Herr Nordenskjold wiill lead the expedition planned by the Swedish Antarctic Committee, which is to consist of ten scientists and to leave in the autumn of next year. The base of operations is to bo Grahamsland, near the scene of Nordenskjold's and Anderson's former exploits. Tho party will spend fivo years in exploring the country in that i'icinity. The expedition will cost £15,000; one-half of tlio amount is to bo voted by the Swedish Parliament and tho remainder will bo subscribed in England.
