THE APPOINTMENTS TO THE COUNCIL.
1 The _ liearty congratulations of tho Victoria College Council were extended last evening to the Hon. J. G. W. Ait-ken and the Hon. A. T. Maginnity, two members of tlie council, who have just been appointed to the Legislative Council. ■ The' chairman of the council (Mr. H. H. Ostler), in convoying the council's good wishes, added that he trusted that both gentlemen would long bo snared to fulfil their legislative duties. APPRECIATION IN WANGANUI. The appointment of the Hons. Gilbert Carson and R. K. Simpson to the Legislative Council have been received with great satisfaction throughout the district, and both gentlemen" have been the recipients of congratulations from the Press and from individuals of all shades of political opinion. >
