THIEVES IN THE CITY
ANOTHER HOUSE RANSACKED. It is reported that between 2.30 and 4 p.m. on Monday tho'residence of Mr.. A. Laurenson, at Island Bay, was entered during the absence of the owner and* family, and a large number of articles, consisting of trophies won by Sir. Laurenson during his athletic' career, and jewellery, of the total value of' about £150, wore stolen from the bedrooms. Entrance was obtained .through a door, the key of which had been deposited outside the house by a member of.'; the family, in which ivas considered a safe hiding-place, after the house had been locked. , , ' THEFTS AT'PETONE. The night thief is still at work in Potone, in spite of the vigilance of the police. Another resident on the Esplanade had a clothes-line stripped of every article.' Several cases, of lamps being removed from bicycles 'Jmvo also occurred. The Chinese who was brutally assaulted in his shop on Thursday evening last,_ was reported _by the' Hospital authorities last evening to be doing very well.
