THE HON. W. MORGAN
The Hon. W. Morgan is one of the best-known and .most liighly respected residents of Gisborno. Ho: was born in County Kildaro, Ireland, in 1851, arriving afc Port Chalmers by the ship Dnnfillan. in 1874. He remained in iDnnedin for : two years. . Subsequently he started in business on his own. m:-' count as a saddler, in Roxburgh, but for reasons of health ho renioved to Gisborne in 1883. During his residonco iii Roxburgh Mr. Morgan was 1 a member of the Borough. Council for somo years and iyas'also chairman of tho local School Committee. ' In Gisbonie Mr. Morgan has also taken a keen'in-, terest in local afFairs. For many years he was connected with tlje Gisborno Splfool Committee, being chairman Sf that body ' for some eight years. He also served for some .years as a .member of the North Ward on the Hawko's Bay. Education Board.- At:the present time lie is secretary of the. Gisborno HHi School Roahl. Amonq .other local bodies on Which Mr. Morgan hps. fiarvodi is the Gisborno.Chamber of> Commerce, of which he was president in 1900-01. In matters political Mr. Morgan has always evinced a keen interest.
