ORDER OF THE STAR IN THE EAST
: On Sunday, afternoon last at; the meeting of the Order of the Star in the' East,' a very ..interesting paper was given by Miss E..E. Smythe. The lecture was based on extracts from "Man: Whence, How, .and-.•Whither." The lecturer spoke more especially on the teaching of the ."Inner Light,". "Tho Light, that lighteth every.-; man that cpmeth into' the world.". The lecturer said the light from the sun might be taken as one' manifestation of the Supreme Being; it was /temporal, but'"'•■'its source was eternal. ' So, hi the same way, we' also were part of the Divine Mind, but had within us the power to grow. Those mighty ones who : , guide the evolution of the world were.looking for channels' through' which to, pour this Light. All religions had como from the same-Di-vine source,, and every man' had it in his power, lo become'a channel, small ho doubt at first, ■ but strengthening and growing by use and conscious reaching up to the highest .each one could thus do his or her hest' to sweep away'the heavy clouds of sin and sorrow thatdarken the world. ■
