« QUARTERLY MEETING. Tho quarterly,meetiug of tho Board of Management of tho Taranaki Street Methodist Circuit was held on Monday. Tho Itev. J. G. Chapman presided. Tlio reports from tho various departments of tho church's activities were found to bo iu a satisfactory condition. Tho financial report revealed a credit balanco on tho quarter's working, and a substantial balanco on the general fund account. Practical recognition was made of tho Rev. J. 11. White's work at tho Brooklyn part of tho circuit, his services being highly appreciated, as also was Sister May at the Aro Street Mission. Tho Mission balance-sheet shows a small credit balance. Tho membership of tho church, after accounting for removals, shows n small increase. It was reported that deputations from tho Hcv. Hammond, Maori' Missioner, and tho Row l'oole, from Samoa, Foreign Missioner, will tako place in August and September next. Tlio annual bazaar in aid of theso funds will tako place next mouth. THOP.NDON METHODIST CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of tho Thorndon Circuit was held on Mondav eveniiiß at tho Molcsworth Streot Church, when representatives wero present from tho Molcsworth Street, Karori, Northland, and Kuiwarra Churches, tho Rev. G. S. Cook presiding. Tho financial etatcnicnt disclosed that tho income amounted to £155 18s. lid., and tho expenditure to £177 Bs. Id., leaving a debit balanco of £21 Ds. 2d. Tho various departments of church lifo were rnported to bo pioßressing favourably. Encouraging reports wore received from the Sunday schools, particularly in reforenco to the number of scholars who had joined tho churches ns junior momhers. It was- regretted that further procross, in the meantime, could not be made regarding "ilm erection of a new Sunday school at Thorndon for tho combined schools. A resolution was carried supporting tho action of the Ilible-in-Schools' League in asking Parliament for tbo Referendum Hill. To assist in defraying a proportion of the expenses in bringing six young ministers from the Old Country, it was decided to have n retiring collection in the various churches on a date to ho fixed. Motions of sympathy were passed ti, the relatives of tho Into Mr. C. 11. Oldish, of tho'Karori Church, and also to tho relatives of tho late Miss Mona Hart, of tho samo church aniT Sunday school.
