EVELEIGH ROBBERY

It is stated that when arrested Ryan was in possossion-of an automatic pistol loaded in. seven chambers. Another inan and throe women were detained as a result of the raid and released after a sovoro examination! Ryan was to-day formally charged with complicity in the Eveleigh robbery. The police, in asking for a remand, stated that they had expected that when Ryan was sent back to Sydney he would bo accompanied ,by another man, but pwin2 to the indiscreet paragraphs in a paper it appeared tha't.the whole of the police work would be abortive and tliat Ryan would return 'alone.
In asking for substantial bail, Detective Burvett described Ryan as one of tho most desperate criminals in Australia'. The remand was granted and bail fixed at £2000. .
DETECTIVES' DISCOVERIES, (Rcc, July 3, 1.5 a.m.)
Me|bourne, July 2. Detectives exhaustively searched thehouse where 1 Ryan was arrested. Finally pulling down the fireplace they discovered a jar containing sixty five pound notes. They are practically certain that the' whole.of the proceeds of ,tl)e Eveleigh hold-up is hidden' in Melbourne* and tbo search cdntinues. Further arrests arc anticipated.
