The question of tenders for the supply of New Zealand timber was considered by tho Harbour Board to-day, when the secretary reported that only one tender had been received. Several other firms had written to eay that thoy could not tender, but were enclosing list of prices current. The chairman (Mr. Gunaon) stated that the ono ( tender roceived reprosented the printed list of tho association. Leading firms refused to tender, and tho board was not able to buy to advantage as it had done in the past. He said tbat there were assuredly indications of a timber'ring. The matter was referred to a committee and the engineer was also instructed to report upon tho position. '
