On Saturday during the progress ,of the football match, Uart-erton. v. Gladstone, Mr. H. Henderson, playing tor Gladstone, had the misfortune to have' his knee Dadly dislocated. During tho evening members and supporters or the club collected £16 on beUalf of the injued player. : ■
A mee&ing of tho citizens has been convened tor Tuesday evening under the auspices of tho Carterton Brass 'Band, .-for tho purposo of-arranging for tho: Queen of. the' Carnival competition. Nominations for' the .vacancy in, the .Carterton Borough Council, caused by Ithe d#ath of Mr. W. H.' Baillie, close 'on WddiiesdayTfortriigßt' ) *''-'i The funeral of tho late Mr. W. H. Baillie took place on Sunday and was very largely attended ,the cortege comprising triends and relatives from all over tho district. Tho pall-bearers wero representatives of. the Druids and-Ma-sonic Lodges and Borough Council. The Church of England service at the grave was conducted by the llov. It. Young. Many beautiful floral tributes wero forwarded. The Wairarapa South County Council lias accepted the tender of Messrs, 'Uayner and Quinn, at Is. sd. per yard for motalling Nix's Road, Parkvalo.
