' SLITTERS FOR CONSIDERATION". i The Cost of Living Conference convened by the Wellington Trados and Labour Council will bo continued at the Trades Hall on Thursday night, when a I number of interesting remits from the \ findings of the Cost of Living Commission, 1912, TV-ill be considered. One of these is that regulations bo added to the Sale of Food and Drugs- Act, ensuring the purity and correct weight and meaeuro of all foodstuffs retailed to the public. . Other points to he considered, as summarised from the" Cost of Living Commission, are as folldw:— The Commercial and Trusts Act to be widened to embrace all commerce, with additional restrictions as suggested by the Commissioner. Education in simple economics to bo given at the primary schools, and with closer connection between the Government and the "University in research. : Small holdings in country districts for the families of workers, also extension ■of 'settlement in proximity to towns. : Improvement to he effected in the work and in the position of tlie Government Statistician. That an advisory board of etatisties bo created, arid that positions' in the Statistical Office be held only bv men trained in statistical and economic work. Greater attention to be given to technical education, and also to agricultural education. Municipal markets to be establishedfor eupnlv of fruit, fish, and dairy produce. The board of investigation to make authoritative ■ reports on municipalisation'of bread and milk supply. At the cfichision of the conference a deputation will probably bo formp'l to whit on the Prime Minister (the Ricrht Hon. W. F. MnsseyV and plnce the opinions of the delegates before him.
