Foxton, Juno 26, Alternate loan proposals for water and drainauo schemes for tho borougli were submitted to a poll of ratepayers yesterdayj viz., gravitation schome from Shannon Hilla £3b'500, and artesian scheme- £23,300; also a loan of £3000 for oxtension of gasworks. ,, Both loan proposals for water and tlrainngo were lost, arid the gasworks loan wag carried. Only 286 ratepayers 'out of a roll of ovet 600 recorded their votca. This is the second time- water and dranago Joan proposals have been .rejected. THE LOST FISHING LAUNCH. Auckland, June 26. H.M.S. ECHO OF HUNTLY STRIKE. Hamilton, June 26. Two Huntly'miners, named JFayhnd and Mouldsworth, who brought a claim against S. Dixon (president) and other members of the Taupiri Miners' Industrial Union for wrongful dismissal and loss of wages, Avero to-day awarded damages by Mr. Bawson, S.M., at tho Muiitly Court. Mayland received £60 (including £17 for loss of wages) and Mouldsworth £50 (of which £46 was for wages).
