'. ■'.'. REUNION AT HUTT. At the Methodist Hall, Lower Hutt, last evening, u social gathering was tendered to Mr. D. M. Yeats, late headmaster Lower Hutt/ District' High School. Mr. H. Balding (chairman v bf'tho Main School Committee) presided. ' . • In making a. presentation of a rollertop desk to the guest of the evening, Mr. Flaldwin made mention of the circumstances that the Education Board had decided that tho time had arrived when Mr. Yeats should lay aside tho arduous duties of teaching and tako a Wnll-earned rest. Twelvo years ago, when Mr. Yeats took charge of the Hutt School, there was an attendance of ,200 scholars. To-day tho roll numbered 720 >~an increase.of over Coo—which spoke well for tho efficiency of the school'undor Mr. Yeats's supervision. He felt sure that he was voicing tho opinion of parents present when he stated that Mr. Yeats had rendered great service to the children of the district in so ably fitting them for tho battle of lire. The Rev. J. M'Caw and Mr..A. Macaskill also spoke in warm terms of Mr. and Mrs. Yeats. ■

Mr. Yeats thanked those present for tho kind remarks made, and especially for the references to Mrs. Yeats, who had assisted him on many occasions in the course of his duties. Ho then went on to state that the success of tho Hutt school had been largely due to the cooperation and faithfulness of tho teaching staff. Hβ had merely acted as superintendant. Ho trusted that the came kindness and consideration that had been shown him by tho school committee would be extended to his successor (Mr. A. N. Burns). (Applause.) Mr. Burns was then introduced by tho chairman, and made a brief address.

During the evening the following contribnted items: Mosdamos Stott and Leighton and Mr. Hendry. . In addition to tho.presentation mentioned above Mr. Yeats was the recipifiiifc of a pair of cntrco dishes, Miss Forbos making the presentation.
