SOCCER MATCH
HOOD DISPLAY BY WELLINGTON. : V Palmerston, June 19. ■ The Association representative footliall match attraoted a good deal of attention during the- afternoon. Unfortunately, in the Manawatu district';the .game'of latd has not been in the same flourishing condition as of yore, and the tea input in the field lacked the condition, combination, and knowledge of tho who made a good showing,'especially in the first spell, when they had things all their own way. Some very pretty passing-rushes gavetho spectators an excellent idea of the filler points of the game, and evoked frequent applause. So well directed was•■:th'e "Wellington attack that, beforo Manawatu had opened their scoring account,; six goals had been registered against, them'. Nothing daunted, the local men made a brief spurt,, about a quarter of an hour before the end of the' game, ■'■ and scored' twice in quick succession. ".Wellington came again before time' was called, and added'; .the seventh goal. • Heath was. the principal scoring agent for the winners, putting four shots past tho' goalkeeper. Skinnei- (2) and Hughes : (1)'were/ responsible for the other goals. Hearsey, kicked both goals for the. local team.'
