SHEEPBREEDERS

' NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION. , Palmcrston, June 19. The nuiuial meeting of the New Zealand Sheepbreedors' Association (North Island) was held this morning at'tho Show Grounds, Mr.P. M'Hardy presiding; . In reporting to the meeting, the chairman said that it was to,be regretted that tho affair of the association had been allowed to got into a rather moribund condition, but it was hoped from ".this date to put .'matters on a better footing, and turn the association into a live body for tho welfare of breeders. Much delay had taken place' in the issue of Vol. XII of the Flock Book, but- tho book had now been printed, and would be sent.out to members in tho course of the next few (lays. From tho Flock Book it would bo gathered that ten new Southdown flocks had been, registered, whilst three had been dispersed. Several breeders of Southdowns , had made importations which would bo a decided acquisition to this breed. In the other breeds, also, several new flocks had been registered and others dispersed. Apparently, in tho' past two or three years; the rules had been a dead letter, and' it. wdujd be as well to revise the regulations in respect to registration of new flocks.' Tho balance-sheet showed a credit at March 31 of £215 Bs. 9d. Against .this there were liabilities amounting to £40 17s. 4tl. The election of officers resulted as follow.:—President, Mr.' S. R. Lancaster (Palmerston North); vice-president, Mr. H. B. Stuckey (Dannevirke); coun•cil, Messrs. S. E. Barriball (TVaiuku), W. Ra.Vner (Masterton), J. Strang (Gladstone), J. Knight (FeildingK TV. H. Booth fCarlton), G. Ellis (Bulls), A. 'H.r.ltussell (Hastings), TV. H. Buiek ~(Mastorton)j and G. L. Marshall (Marton); auditor, Mr. P. L. Sim. /'. : -;■ A .voto of thanks. was passed to the ■retiring president for his past services.
