TO RUN IN JULY NEXT. The announcement was made at. last evening's meeting of tho Onslow Borough Council that tho first petrol railway carriage in Now Zealand would run, between .Thorhdon railway station and Johnsonville oh Julv 1. The Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump) stated that he had been making inquiries into the question of improving the suburban railway service, and ho had been informed, on the bc3t of authority, that a petrol carriage would run through the borough on July 1. Two trips would be made on that date—one at 11 a.m. and the other at 8.30 p.m. The car would also run on tho following Sunday, and it, was understood that a permanent time-tablo would he drawn up in tho near future.

Although nothing definite has been arranged'as to how far this carriage would run, it is probable that the distance maybe extonded to Porirua.
