OBITUARY.

« FIRST BISHOP OF UGANDA'. By Telegraph—Press Aetwiation-nopyrlgM (Rcc. Juno 16, 10.15 p.m.) London, June 16. Dr. Tucker, ex-Bishop of Ugnndh, becamo ill suddenly in the cloisters of Westminster Abbey yesterday, and died in the deanery. Bishop Tucker was born jn 1849 and was eduoated at Oxford. He was not ordained until he was 33 years old, bavins in the first instanco'chosen painting as bis profession. For eight years ho was curate ftt Clifton and Durham. In 1800 ho was appointed Bishop of Eastern Equatorial Africa, a position which had been held by the martyred Bishop Haiininsrton, and ho subsequently beenmo first Bishop of Uganda on the division of the 'diocese in 1897. The work of the Church made great progress under his supervision. lit resigned in 1911, anil was appointed Canon of Durham.
