PETONE BOWLING CLUB
A sncccssfiil and progressive year is recorded in the eighteenth annual report of the Pctono Bowling Club, to he presented at the annual meeting to bo held nest Friday. The club won tho senior ponnants for tho season. . Tho balance-sheet discloses a credit of £29 2s;' 6d. on-the year's working. . The membership roll shows a total of 105, including six honorary mombers. The standard of. individual play (according to tho report)..-.of members, shows. an undoubted improvement. By tho club winning the senior pennants marks the first time for them to bo held by a club outside tho. City clubs. ■ For the sixth year in succession the club has won the President's Cup presented for competition between the Petono and Hiitt Clubs. The Wilford Cup was won by •!*. H. Stephens. , The result of the matches pla.vetl during the past season; was as follows :— Champion singles, R. H. Stephens (1), Gilmour and Frascr (2); champion pairs, Bennio and Hay (1), Gilmour and I'rascr (2). Club badges are held by the following:—Ferns,' M'Ewen, Melhuish, Coles,; and -Stephens. .-'Jfonograms:; Citizens' badges, Fraser and Beyrion. Senior champion star: F. Smith. Junior star: H. E...Card.
During the year, at times, the club* hold the Hill Pins and Edwin Feathers. During the year a,piano was-purchased, owing to .the efforts of Mr. H. J. Palmer (president). and lady friends, who organised a euchre party. 'Thanks are tendered the. green superintendent (Mr. W. G. Henry) and the caretaker (Mr. M'Callum) for their services, and to all who assisted the club.
