LICENSED MAORI DRIVER'S ACT. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.> Wanganul, June 15. _ The motor-car scorcher, who takes risks ,at railway crossings, came linder tho notice .of tho railway authorities at the Wanganui race meeting on May S3, when, in spite of a warning from tho railway .porter controlling tho traffic_ at'lngestro Street crossing, a Maori driver of a,inotor-car dashed] across in front of an approaching train. Dealing with tho case in tho Magistrate's' Court to-day, Mr. Korr, S.M., said that it was just such, occurrences as this that led to tho gravest accidents. Tin's. was > a particularly gross caso, inasmuch as 'the driver was licensed to ply for' hire,, and tho borough by-laws should provide for the cancellation of licenses in such cases. Defendant, who did not appear, was fined £10. A similar cbarge against a European driver'was adjourned at tho request of the police for a fortnight.
