HORTICULTURAL

THE UPPER HUTT SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the Upper Hutt and District Horticultural Society was held'in tho Oddfellows' Hall, Trentham, on AVednesday evening. Thore was a fair attendance of members.

Tho report stated that tho annual Ehow, held on December 3, 1913,. had proved very successful, both as regards oxhibits and tho attendance of the pub, lie. The balance-sheet showed receipts as £G0 35., and expenditure as £45 13s. 6d., leaving a credit balance of £14 9s. 6d. - A honorarium of £5 ss. was unanimously voted to the hou. secretary for his services during tho past two years. During the year the society purchased five gross of vases for use at shows.

The following officers wore elected:— Patron,- Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.'j president, Mr. H. C. Gibbons; vicopresidents, Mrs. F. W. Kemp, Mrs. A. Pearce,- Mrs. J. Barton, and Airs. Lees, Dr. F. W. Kemp, Messrs. J. Charlesworth, C. H. Izsird, K. . Balcombe Brown, .). Webster, U. Tolluirsl, and A. S. Biss; management committee, Rev. J. I<\ [Jsher, Messrs. A. Anderson, ,1. Martin; l{. Backmau, A. Howell, T. Million, l< , . Lynch, G. W. Lewens, G. J. Taylor, li. Skeltou, J. Brown, U. Anderson, W. Houtlny, J. Troughton, and J. Todd; auditors, Jfessrs. F. W. Council and-Jt. H. Webb; lion, treasurer, Mr. 11. A. Lopjicr; lion, secretary, ltev. J. 11. Sykos. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the outSoing eommittoe, and also to thi! auditors, treasurer, and secretary. The committee extend thanks to the following for trophies awarded at tho last show:—Mrs. A. Pearce, Mr. 11. R. Gibbs, Dresden l'iano Co., Mrs. Kitchen. Messrs. Keys Bros..
