GROWING EXCESS OP DEPOSITS. (By Telegraph.—Prose Association./ Chrlstchurch, Juno 11. Tho Postmaster-General announces that tho I'oat Office Savings Bank returns for May are not yet quite Comr plcfce owing to tho absence of reports from outlying offices, particularly in tho Auckland district. Tho figures, which will of courso bo subject to sonio slight modification, are as follow:—
• Tho deposits for May Lave exceeded tho withdrawals by £177,321, as compared with £99,516" in May of Inst year. Tho excess of deposits in April last iva3 £78,503 as, compared with £57,217 in April of lost year. The total excess of deposits for April and May, 1014,. amounts to £255.824, .us compared with £150,733 for the- corresponding months of 1913. Tho total deposits for theue ' two months amount to £2,175,545 as compared, with £2,081,847. for the corresponding monflis last year, and the withdrawals to £1,919,721, as compared with £1,925,114 for the corresponding months of 1913.
