CHILD BREAKS A LKU While playing on the lawn on Saturday afternoon the- four-year-old son of Mr. J. Aston, Karon Head, fell and broke one of hiu kfis. Dv. iCivart was shortly in attendance and set the limb, and the little fellow is now doing as well as can be expected under Win' circumstances. On Saturday evening Thomas Q'Malley, a watersider, fell oft the wharf at Lyttelton, striking the hull of the Wahine as he fell. Tho hotly was notrecovered till the vessel sailed. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death by drowning was "returned. BOAT CAPSIZES. Auckland, Jims 8. Albert N. Osborne, a resident of Tryphena, Great Barrier, was drowned, on Saturday night oy the- capsizing of a boat. DODGING A TRAM-CAIt. uhfistchurch, Jteio S. Charles Niclioiis, second son. ef Mr. W. Nicholls, of Kaputene Wool-works, Belfast, met his death as the result of ai accident which occurred about midday to-day. He was going home to lunch on a 'motor-cycle, keeping to t'fie tram-line. When opposite the Waimairi County Council Chambers he swerved off to dodge a tram-car, hut evidently misjudged tho di-stanee, the car catching the back wheel and precipitating him on to tho road. He was picked up unconscious suffering from various injuries to face and arras. lie iieyer regained consciousness and died lit. the Hospital about 2.30 p.m.
