OUR FISHERIES.

Sir, —Piofessnr Prince (vide his report on Dominion' fisheries) states "that oysters are verv widely distributed, and there was need for a complete and detailed survey." . This reminds me that many years ago while rabbit poisoning at the White Bluffs, near Blenheim, we had for some weeks to walk round the heach to get to work. On every occasion after heavy south-east weather, there would be I thousands of large oysters ca6t up on

tho.beach. I am not speaking of tho , ,rock oyster, but ol a varictj equalling any bivalve that can bo obtained at Stewart Island or elsewhere. This seoms to point to the fact that there must be a tremendous bed of bivalves within a milo or two of the Moulder Bonk, cither south or towards the mouth of the Wairau Bar! This should bo worth investigating.—l am, etc., SHANNON.
