HOTEL WORKERS
Experiencing quiet season. , The- present season is proving very quiet for hotel and restaurant workers, and a largo amount of unemployment exists in the trade. The- influx of workers from the country, which is usual at tho beginning of the year, 'is causing an overstocked labour market, and, in addition, numbers of men are arriving by the overseas steamers and joining tho Hotel Workers' Union. The demand is by no means equal to tho supply, and better conditions cannot bo expected in Wellington for some- time. Last month, according to tho secretary (Jlr. E. J. Carey), 91 now members—4B men and .43 women —joined the union. The executive have- appointed a delegate to attend tho Cost of Living Conforcnco arranged by tho Trades and Labour Council. -.'■-■
