THE TYNAN CASE
CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED MURDER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, Juno 1. In tlie Police Court William Tynan was charged with the attempted murder of his daughter Evelyn, whom ho waylaid when sho was • leaving school and cut her throat with a razor. Tho .prisoner sat through tlio proceedings nnconcernedly, as having apparently only a spectator's interest in the evidence, though occasionally he displayed signs of nervous stress. Detective Macmahon stated that tho prisoner when arrested expressed a desire to be hanged without delay. Mrs. Tynan stated that her husband had threatened her previously with a razor, but sho never heard him threaten her children. Her husband has been drinking to excess. _ Tynan whon asked to plead remained silent, and was committed for trial.
