DISORDERLY SCENES
LAND TAX BILL IN SOUTH AFRICAN PARLIAMENT. By Tolezra.pli-Pre3s Araociation-Copyrielit (Rec. May 28, 11.45 p.m.) Cape Town, May 28. Disorderly scenes occurred when General Smuts (Union Treasurer) moved the closure during the debate on his land tax proposals. Messrs. Cresswell, Madeley, and Bo.vdell wcro ordered to withdraw from tho Assembly. General Smuts's amendment deleting the 'exemption clauses was carried by 49 votes to 20. An amendment limiting the operation of tho measure_to one year was carried by 5S votes to 1".
