Having pointed out the importance ot historical facts in their relation, to modern life, the lectnrer related how Marie do Brabant, who was the second, wife of Philip Iβ Hards, King of. Franco in the thirteenth century, . was'falsely accused <sf- the nmttJcf of her stepson, »i»d ea«fc into a dungeon, where slio remained until sim was iiberftted through the efforts of her brother, the Dttfce of Brabant, wlro proved her innocence in a trial by consbat. Th'j ivas confirmccl later by a scitfthsayer named La Bcgaine <te Ntvojies, and a letter received by tic King from -a dying man.The lecture was precetied by an article entitled "Cotoine on rend des visites na France/' read by Miss Indiana Sittyt.hson, and a violin solo by Miss Coralte Smythson. A cordial vote.of thanks wa3,accorded by acclamation to Mrs. Seville and tiro Misses Smythson -on the motion of the president (Mr. A. A. Stewart Moiitoafch).
