v HIS STAFF'S TRIBUTE. At the Hutt District High School yesterday, the headmaster,. Mr. D. M. Yeats, who is now retiring from the service, was presented with a silver teaservico by, Miss Mary Liman, a scholar, on behalf of the children attending tho school. . A presentation on . behalf of the teachers, consisting of an afternoon china tea-service and an arm-chair, was also made. In addition to theso marks of esteem, an address signed by tho staff was presented to Mr. Yeuts, It was worded" as follows:—

Dear Mr. Yeats, — We, the teachers of tho Hutt District High School, desiro to express, in this quite informal manner, our very sincere regret at the severance of your connection with us as headmaster. We would convey to you our very hearty appreciation of_ the unfailing courtesy and kindness which have characterised all your intercourse with uSj both personal and official. The constant support which you have given to members of the staff in all their difficulties, especially appeals to us, and rrerits our sincere thanks. To Mrs. Yeats, too, we are indebted for her active interest in the welfare of tho school, and for her many pevsonal kindnesses. Wo trust that you may both bo, blessed with many years of happiness, "and ask your acceptance of the accompanying gifts as a token of our respect and esteem. Wo are, Yours very sincerely, Messrs. 'E. Tho girl Evelyn Tynan, whose father is in custody on a charge of attempted murder, is, according to a Press Association telegram from Auckland, progressing as well as can bo expected, and there are hopes of hor recovery. The senior assembly,' organised by Mrs. MarUrti Clark, will take plaeo this evening in the Goring Street Hall.
