MR G. M. THOMSON. M.P.
VOTE OF THANKS & CONFIDENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Dunedin, May 22. Mr.G. M. Thomson, M.P. for Dunedin North, addressed a meeting of constituents, to-night. He spoke in support of the party system, adding that an Independent had no weight in the House. He sketched the history and downfall of the Ward Government, and described it as a deplorable spectacle. The action of Mr. Massey's Government ill the recent strike had his support, but lie regretted thai; the peopio who had suffered most wero those who could ill afford to lose by a strike. Mr. Thomson also touched on a largo number of other matters upon which he explained liis views. A vote of thanks and confidence in Mr. Thomson and in Mr. Massey's Government was carried by a largo hinjurity. An amendment of thanks only was supported by only three persons.
