BRISTOL DELEGATES.
A SUCCESSFUL MISSION. MORE STEAMERS COMING. The delegates from the Port of Bristol (Air. H. _L. Hiseley and Mr. E. Manning Lewis), who have been touring New Zealand with tho object of csta-b----lishing a more cxtensivo trade between New Zealand and the port of Bristol, arrived in Wellington from the south yesterday. They leave by tho Willochra to-day to return Home, via San Francisco.
"The object of our visit to Australia and New Zealand." said Mr. Riseley, in an interview with a Dominion" reporter yesterday, "was to improve the means.of communication between, these countries and tho West Coast ports of Great Britain, notably Bristol. Our aim was to arrange for a fortnightly service to and from New* Zealand, instead of the present 2S days' service, and also for a supplemented line to pick up heavy cargoes. This has been accomplished, and vessels to take up the moro frequent running are now in commission and on the voyage, When I visited your country five years ago, it was clear to 111 c that no real development of your trade with Bristol could bo expected unless a service at moro frequent fixed dates could bo arranged, especially as wo wished to increaso our import trade mainly in perishable food products, ttc found that tho condition of things which existed five years ago exists to-day in an accentuated form, and pressure has been already brought to bear on the steamship owners to meet the situation. ■ And it is gratifying to know that thoro is 1 every probability that sufficient tonnage will be available in the coming season to ineot the wants of shippers to West of England ports, and moro especially to Bristol. We aro quite certain that our visit has done good to the producers of New Zealand, if only because of tho interest ifc_ has stimulated in tho shipping requirements of tho Dominion. Now that attention has been called to your need for ships to open to your produce a market hitherto unexploited, better services of steamships aro sure to follow.
"On all occasions and in every place wo have been well received, and our arguments have had fair consideration. Let me say ■ that wo aro vory grateful. also -for the handsomo manner in which tlio Now Zealand Press has opened its .-columns to us. Wo shall take back to .the Home Country the happiost memories of /our, experiences in New Zealand, and Wo hopo to come back here at lip very distant- date!" ,-
