CHARITABLE AID BOARD
The ordinary meeting of tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was. held yesterday. There were present t' Tirechairman (the Rev. AY. A. Evans), Mrs-, t). M'Lnrcm, the Eav. J. K. Elliott, the Rev. H. Van Stifvereii, Messrs. H. Baldwin, F. Cs'stlo, '0. -Camnbcll, H, Freeman, B. It. Gardener, W. Galloway, J. W. M'Ewan,' D. M'Larcw, F. T. 'Moore, G. J. Petlieriek, D, Itebertstini J. Smith, and Dr. Mackenzie. A letter was received from tho M-a-kara County Council to the effect that, it was not the intention of. the county •io renew it contribution of £10 f>fi'r year for the services of board s sanitarv'' inspectors.' Mr. F. T. Mooro said tliat the reason for ttto council s action was that the members were not satisfied with the manner in which the insixK't'Oi's carriod out their duties, &evoral other members of the hoard spake on the question, and all defended the officers, suggestim* that any failure on the part of the. officers to do their duty was due to the overlapping of tho ntnetimis of neighbouring local bodies, Tho chairman slid that it seemed to be generallv agreed that tho only possible way of having sanitary inspection carried out effectively was to vest sole control in this Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. • The Tfov. H. Van Stavereri was rc< elected chairman of the Public Health Committee. ' . Tho inspectors rouorted that during tho month they lint] taken eiflfrt samples of mili'c awl that four carcasses of .pork liftd been dealt with. It was decided to invito 'tenders foi the suppiv of two motor cycles and two bicycles for the use of the lwalth inspectors and collectors.
