MID-WEEK MATCHES.: fy TRAMWAY V. AKTiU.EHY. . At Athletic I'ark yesterday afternoon Tramway met Artillery. After an inleresting game, the- match resulted in a draw. Shortly after the kick off Tramwaj took the leather into Artillery's territory, and two good chalices; were spoiled ij.v fisher hanging mi too long. Artillery, in turn, forced play on to Tramway's lino, but a mark by Moschiin saved the situation. Matters for a time were now fairly even, neither side showing to any great advantage. On iiccount of a lot of off-side play, penaltykicks wore numerous, and several good opportunities to score were consequently missed. Tramway from this out began to attack vigorously, and .had their heavy opponents in trouble' on more than one occasion. A breach of the rules gave Tram war a free-kick, in a good position, and this enabled Algar to draw first blood, the only score of the spell. l'lny ill the second-luilf was very one-sided, Tramway pressing matters almost from the start. They commenced a dribbling rush, which was brought to an abrupt termination by off-side plaj The ball was sent down the field, with Artillery in hot pursuit, but again off-side play stopped their attack. This gave Artillery ait opportunity to equalise matters. Owles was entrusted with the kick, and placed a good goal. Tramway returned to the attack, and several times were on the point of scoring when the' oM trouble again intervened, and when tho whistle .sounded the scores were unaltered— each side having scored 3 points. ■■ Mr. C. Roskruge was referee. -■ ■ MEETING OP ONION. The weekly meeting of thc Managcment Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last night. • Mr. li. 0. Hales presided. The representative matches, as fixed at the annual meeting of the New Xealantl liugby Union, were cionftrzaGCi. It was decided to ask Sir. AY. T. Parata to bring his Maori team to play Wellington on June 3 (King's Birthday), tho Wellington Union to pay expenses. Last Saturday's matches having been postponed, tho fixtures arranged for Saturday were allowed to stand for tho following week.
