SYSTEM OF CO-OPERATIVE PURCHASING
BIG SCHEME DISCUSSED. (Ey Telceraph.—Press Association.) ' Auckland, May 20. A scheme to bring'about the affiliation- of various trading-associations in Auckland was brought under the notice of the Farmers' Trading' Association by the Auckland representative of tho New' Zealand Public Service Cash Purchaso Association, who foreshadowed the enrolment of a great body of affiliated associations reaching over the wholo Dominion, and eventually-linking up with tho great co-operative' associations/in the Old Country. In tho course of a discussion, reference was made to the action being taken by the Waterside Workers' Union and Seamen's Union to arrange for co-opera-tive purchasing. One speaker expressed tho opinion chat in a ■ short time every trades union in Auckland would ho taking similar action.Tho meeting confirmed the principle of affiliation, and referred tho Public Service Association proposals to the directors to. report to a special meeting to deal finally therewith.
