WARRIMOO'S ROUGH TRIP.
GRATEFUL PASSENGERS. Owing to 'the phenomenal southerly gale which lasted from Friday. until Monday night the Warrimoo was unable to call cither at Gisborne or Napier, and all passengers, mails, and cargo had perforce to be brought on ■to Wellington. One of the passengers —one of some 50 odd—who were overcarried from the ports mentioned, called at The Dominion" Offico for tho express purpose of stating liow well they had all been treated under the circumstances. Our informant, a passenger named Mr. J. B. Smith, said that the vessel had a very rough time of it indeed, and it was utterly impossible for anything to bo done at either of iho two ports. At Gisborne on Saturday afternoon the tender came' off, but she appeared to bo as often in a vertical position as she was in a lateral one. It was quite impossible for Jier to get alongside, and at Napier tho vessel was kept on and off from G a.m. to G p.m., waiting for tho gale and sea to moderate. On behalf of himself and soma other passengers, Mr. Smith wished to thank the captain and officers for the manner in which they had done their work and to express gratitude for tho attention they had all received under the distressing circumstances. _ The greater number of the over-carried passengers are being dispatched to Napier and Gisborne to-day by the Victoria.
