FISH TANKS AT THE "ZOO,"

Fisher (Minister of Ma.ihe) paid a'visit to Nowtown 1 ark yesterday, in connection with his oner to present to tho city tho aquarium "k' c .h was exhibited at tho Auckland Exhibition. The Minister was accompanied by Professor E. Prince (Canadian Commissioner of Fisheries), Mr. Ceo. Allport (Secretary of Marine), and Mr. L. F. Ayson .(Chief Inspector of Fisheries).. .. The party inspected a ' number of possible sites upon which to erect the tanks for tho aquarium. Representatives of City Council were present, including a number of councillors, and Mr. J. ,31. Morico, Assistant City Engineer. Mr. Morico is to pre-pare-an estimate of the cost of installing tho It is thought probable that the sito selected will bn a bank opposite, arid not far away from tho lions' cage. ■ The tanks will be shipped from Auckland by the Hincmoa ,m about a fortnight's tjme, and tho work will be put in hawl'immediately. There are iu all sixteen tanks, glass-fronted, with a depth of about three foot, and in each of these there will bo an interesting, display of live fish, which w-ill bo provided by tho Marino Department. An extremely interesting exhibit will thus bo added to the collections at tho "Zoo."
