Tho question of daggy sheep was discussed at tho Shearers' Conference, and it was unanimously resolved that members bo notified that in tho opinion of tho conference (lagging was not shearing, and where employers neglected to dag the sheep before coining 011 the board shearers, should refuse to dag the sheep.
Nearly seventy new -members were elected to the Holstein Cattle Breeders' Association during the past year. The annual roport to bo presented during show week states that the assets exceed liabilities by £1127, and the bal-ance-sheet shows a credit of £388.

Tho Mangarama. Cheese Factory will close down for the winter period on May 25. Tho output for the present season will be between 80 and ( J0 tons of cheeso. • The Ballancc branch of the Now Zealand Farmers' Union lias elected the following officials: —Chairman, Mr. J. B. Tait; vice-chairman, Mr. F. Cresswell; secretary, Mr. AY..Olson; auditor, Mr. F. A'. Martin"; general committee, Messrs. A. M'Knv. J. Harris. J. Sinclair, F. Martin. F. Cresswell. E. S. Holdaway, J. T. Marriott, A. Ilay, and J. Bremncr. As a result of the can- ! vassing committees' efforts, 21 new members have been enrolled. Mr. E. S. Holdaway promised to give a lecture at 'an early date on an important subject | to the farming community. Tho manager of the. Mangarama Cheese Factory (Mr. J. Aitcheson) is forwarding an exhibit of two cases of clicese to the Islington (England) show (writes our Pahiatua correspondent). Mr. Aitcheson was a prize-winner at this show* last year. '
