BASEBALL.

LOCAL LEAGUE FORMED. A meeting of baseball enthusiasts was hold at tho Y.M.C'.A. rooms last evening with a view to forming a Baseball League. Mr. E. A. AVhyte (American Consul) presided over a good attendance Mr. Whyto explained the objects of the mooting, and expressed tho hope that tho gamo would'bo taken up, as a summer sport. Mr. J. M'Donald said that he had seen the gamo played in the United States, and ho could seo no reason why it should not tako on in Wellington. Ho and Mr. Moore had worked hard in arousing enthusiasm, and lie expressed pleasure that they had been ablo to call a meeting. Ho moved that a Wellington Baseball League bo formed. Tho motion was seconded by Mr. D Morris and carried.

The following committee was appointed to draw tip rules'and draft the constitution of tho league;—Drs. L. P. Haywood and L. Hales, and Messrs. A. E. Whyto, J. 0. M'Donald (Central Club), P. Harrison, K. Littlo, T. N. M'Clintock (Newtown Club), L. Webb (Athletic Club), W. H. Ami (Thorndon Club), B. Willis (Khandallati Club), K. Anderson (Tramway Club), H. Rogers (Y.M.O.A. Club), 1\ R. Granville (Seatoun Club), and W. P. Pondo (local Australians' Club). ■' The committee- is to report to a meeting to be held next month. . Mr. S. Moore was olected secretary
