As they turned for home the order of the leaders was: St. Gate, Paoli, and Sam Pan. and a gruelling finish resulted in Paoli scoring by a good length from Sam Pan. who was a similar distance ahead of St. Gnto. As tho field passed tlie stand Belle Paul had charge, followed by Conney and John Willie, and along'the back tho order of the leaders was practically tho same. At the four-furlongs Kurnalpi had run into third position, and at the straight entrance was leading Patroness, Styrax, and Conney in that order. Maniaroa then came on tho outside and a desperate set-to resulted in four Maniaroa, Connoy, and Kurnalpi—finishing in a line, so thatthe judge alone could placn them. In tho straight Vladineau and Captain Miro joined issue. A good finish resulted in favour of Gerberga by half a length from Vladineau, with Watino a similar distance away third.
