1 ' 0 HINEMOA'S TRAWL. ] PROFESSOR PRINCE PLEASED. (By IWeeraph—Press Association.) Auckland, May 14. Professor Prince, Canadian Commissioner of Fjsheries, has now almost completed his investigation of the sea fisheries of New Zealand, having traversed the whole coast of the South Island and. tho East Coast of tho North Island. It is, however, his intention to conduct further trawling operations from tho Hinemoa as far as North Cape, and thence down the West Coast to Wellington., .. ~.'.. .. ' .Professor,'Prin'ce ...went p'n! to say •'that' he was very pleased with the results of his coastal cruise. • Up till the present, with the exception of a few days','fino weather had been met.with, and largo hauls of all kinds of fish had been made. Ho could not help being impressed with the large variety of cdiblo fish to. be found all round tho New Zealand coast, though a big variation in the species of iish secured was noticeable as ho came further north. "I was much struck," said the Professor, "with the abundance •of schnapper in northern waters, as disclosed by trawls. I consider that the. schnapper is a remarkably fine food fish, and one that is not appreciated as it should be. I was also interested to find a number of fine crayfish in the various hauls. Thero is undoubtedly a big commercial future before this class of crustacean."
