ARBITRATION COURT.

DAIRY EMPLOYEES' AWARD. ■ An award of tho Arbitration Court affecting itho Wellington dairy cniplov r ees and their employers was filed in tho Supremo Court yesterday.' Tho award embraces an area having a radius of twenty-five miles from tho General Post Office, Wellington. It comes into force as from .March 1 of this year, and remains operative till March 1, 1915. Tho Court hasxlecided that the hours of labour shall not exceed 50 per week for drivers, and 52 hours per week for other, workers. On Sundays and Wednesdays tho day's work shall not exceed '.five hours. ' Work, or the delivery of milk, is not to bo commenced before 3 a.m., and' drivers' work shall commenco at the time that they leave tho factory. Tlio minimum wage is fixed at £2 10s. per week, .except for leajners on a round, who.for the first week shall bo paid not less than * ss. per day." ,i?,,t.0 .bo paid, for, , al tho rate .of. quarter; .for.. . the first-two hours,, and double time thereafter, but shall not be charged for when, due to tram delays or accidents. A week's holiday on full pay is to be given yearly after twelve months' employment. Preference is granted, and it is made incumbent upon workers to join tho union' within fourteen' days of their, engagement, and also upon present employees to join tho..union within fourteen days of tho award coming into operation. The ' award is based upon the recommendations of tho Conciliation Council, which, the parties agreed to accept. Tho preference clause is in a form which the Court says it would not have imposed upon unwilling employers.
