THE MATCHER FOR TO-DAY. The Wellington Rugby League's competitions are now in'full swing and tlio prospects for the 1914 season are said to bo bright.. In Auckland this year there are six teanis taking the field for .the senior competition .as against four last. year. The Wellington League has received an application for aihliation from a fresh club, which would be ablo to play a senior and junior team. The League here has now. four senior teams, six junior teams, and eight third-class. There are two other clubs willing to enter, but the League considers it desirablo not to have too many clubs, so that the ■standard of play in the senior competition may not bo lowered. Enthusiasts . will have the opportunity of witnessing two good expositions to-day, one at l'etone, when the Suburbs team plays:Petone on the Reereatiun Ground. •In connection with this match admission can bo obtained .to the League ground at all gates. The other senior match billed for to-day is between Athletic and Newtown !at Newtown Park. Admission to this match is free.
