BOWLS & BOWLERS
It was the intention of several of the local bowling clubs to bring the season to a closo on Saturday in a sociablo way, but tho teeming rain and stormy conditions which prevailed on Saturday took tho matter in their own hands, and closed the greens for play in a very rude and boisterous manner. Owing to the heavy rain which has fallen (luring tho past few weeks, tho greens arc pretty soft, and it is hardly likely that there will be any more play at all this season. The seed is about to be sown in tho Kelburne Club's new green on tho Town Belt at Kelburne, and such excellent preparation, has Mr. Crawford made that it is estimated that with average fine-weather conditions through tho winter, the green will be playable) towards the end of November next. Bowlers, bo up-to-date, fit your hands with Bussev's Composite Bowl, sin. (31b. 50z.), sin. l-32in. (31b. GO7J). 5 1-lGin. (31b. 70z.). B Houldsworth, Tobacconist, Sole Agent, Cuba Street*
