THE MISSING POLICY.

Sir,—Will you kindly allow mo spaefr for a short letter on. a very important question, and one that not only myself but everybody should, know? 'Now, I think the people ought' not to ba mads to wait for the- relief they have a right to demand. They ought not to \n made to suffer while we argue one with another out of the recorded and inveterate opinions of our whole lives. I say, therefore, for myself, that anxious as 1 am, and being a supporter or the Liberal Government for over twenty, years, that Sir Joseph Ward should loso no time in coming forward, aiid making his policy known, if he. has got : one at all. I, for "one, am not going to vote for a Government without a : policy, and t feel sure that Mr. Massey won't steal it when once it is known. Consider how niueli better it is to relieve them to some substantial extent bv this means at once, than not to relieve at all. Instead of knowing what measure of relief Sir Joseph Ward proposes, we will have them go home at the end of this session of Parliament weak ami weary, and tlica spend the balance of the winter in trying to persuade us that it was the fault of some of our friends that nothing was done. How poor a compensation for wrongs to tlie people will be. the victories over" ottr friends. It is for this reason that I, as well as othfirs. would like to know Sir Joseph- Ward's policy, so that others, as well as myself, may bo able ,ro revises our opinions. That from a Ministry in whom first of all the qua]- i ity of decision of purpose is wanting. j we can hope no good in this crisis of our country's fate.—l am. etc , HENRY' PRESTON. M.astaton, April 25, 1014,
